NLP is an approach to communication which looks at how we organise our thoughts, feelings, language and behaviour patterns.

What is NLP?

NLP was originally developed in the 1970s as a way to model the language structure and behavioural patterns of a number of key therapists from the fields of Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy, in order to devise a system which could replicate their successful outcomes.

We all have our own unique psychological filtering system which we use to process the millions of pieces of information which are being constantly absorbed through our five senses. This information is used to create our own internal mental map, through which we understand and relate to the world around us. We give personal meaning and context to the information received by assigning language to the internal images, sounds, tastes and smells. Our behaviours and responses occur as a result of these filtering processes and how we interpret the world through our mental map.

NLP in Therapy Sessions

The field of NLP covers a wide range of tools and techniques that can be used as a standalone therapy, but most often are combined with other talking therapies to help you achieve your goal(s). Hypnotherapy was a major influence in the development of NLP and many Hypnotherapists use it’s techniques to help people with a wide variety of problems and issues.

NLP is often helpful in situations where you would like to feel or respond differently, such as fears and phobias or improving self confidence. As a Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner, I often combine elements of both therapies to enable you to develop a greater understanding of your behaviours and responses, whilst learning new skills to help you reach your goal(s).

Free Initial Consultation

If you have any questions or are unsure whether therapy is right for you, I offer a 20 minute online free initial consultation via Zoom. This is an opportunity for us to meet, discuss what you’d like to change and how we can work together. I’ll also explain the face to face or online therapy options and we’ll talk about the number of sessions you might need.
