Supervision enables a therapist to review and reflect on their work and is considered to be vital in safe, ethical and professional practice.
Hypnotherapy Supervision
I provide supervision for students, newly qualified and experienced Hypnotherapists who are looking for a supportive, professional and collaborative supervision relationship.
As an Accredited Supervisor with the National Hypnotherapy Society, I work within the Society’s supervision guidelines and ethical framework, whilst also recognising that every therapist brings their own individual experience, strengths and challenges to the process.
I believe good supervision should offer more than simply meeting professional requirements. It should provide a safe and reflective space where you can talk openly about your client work, explore challenges, develop confidence and continue growing both personally and professionally as a therapist.
Having worked in practice since 2007, I understand that therapy work can sometimes feel isolating, particularly when working independently or from home. Supervision offers the opportunity to step back, reflect on your work, gain fresh perspectives and ensure you are working safely, ethically and effectively with your clients.
My supervision approach is supportive, down-to-earth and tailored to the individual. Some supervisees may want guidance around specific client issues, techniques or therapeutic approaches, whilst others may use supervision as a space to reflect on confidence, boundaries, professional development or the emotional impact of client work. I aim to create an environment where you feel comfortable bringing both successes and difficulties without fear of judgement.
I integrate my experience across Hypnotherapy, CBT, Counselling, NLP, Mindfulness and Rewind Therapy into the supervision process where appropriate.
Hours required
As a Hypnotherapist, the amount of supervision you are required to engage in varies depending on which professional organisation you are registered with.
The following is a guide (information is correct as of May 2026):
The National Hypnotherapy Society (HS)
1.5 hours every month for therapists in full time practice.
General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)
A minimum of 2 hours in any 3 month period during the first 2 years of practice (voluntary thereafter).
National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH)
Registered members are required to undertake a minimum of 30 minutes per month or an average of 6 hours of supervision per year with an NCH supervisor during their first 3 years of qualified practice and 300 client hours (voluntary thereafter).
Your level of experience and the client group you are working with will also determine how much supervision you need. We will agree mutually convenient dates and times to suit you and your professional organisation’s requirements. For sessions to be meaningful and effective, it is recommended that each session is a minimum of 60 minutes.
I keep an accurate log of the time spent in supervision and provide a written summary following each session. I can also provide an annual written report for your professional organisation if required (additional fee applies).
Supervision is available face to face in Leeds as well as online via Zoom, allowing flexibility around your practice and location. Whether you are at the start of your career or have many years of experience, supervision can provide valuable support, insight and professional accountability throughout your work as a therapist.
