Counselling

Understanding your situation

What is Counselling?

Counselling provides a safe, supported and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

The aim is to help you gain greater understanding of yourself, make sense of your situation and identify positive ways of moving forward.

I believe that every person is unique, which is why there is no single approach that works for everyone. My role is to work collaboratively with you, helping you explore the issues that have brought you to therapy whilst supporting you in developing greater clarity, confidence and emotional wellbeing.

I use an integrative approach to counselling, drawing on a range of therapeutic models and techniques, including:

By combining different approaches, I am able to tailor therapy to your individual needs rather than following a fixed model. This flexible way of working allows us to focus on what is most important to you, helping you gain new insights, develop healthier coping strategies and create meaningful, lasting change.

Counselling sessions

Counselling can be helpful for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low self esteem, grief and bereavement, stress and emotional overwhelm.

Whatever has brought you to therapy, sessions provide a supportive space where you can explore your experiences, gain greater understanding and work towards positive change.

Every person’s circumstances are different, which means the length of therapy will vary depending on your individual needs and goals. Some people find that a relatively short course of counselling is enough to help them overcome a specific issue, whilst others benefit from longer-term support to explore more complex or longstanding difficulties.

Sessions are usually held on a weekly basis, particularly at the beginning of therapy, as this helps maintain momentum and supports the therapeutic process. As therapy progresses, we can review your needs and adjust the frequency of sessions if appropriate.

Many people begin with a course of six sessions, before reviewing their progress and considering any further support they may require. During your first appointment, we will discuss what has brought you to therapy, what you would like to achieve and the most appropriate approach for your individual situation. Together, we can create a plan that feels right for you and supports the changes that you would like to make.
