If this is the first time that you've considered seeing a hypnotherapist, you may be wondering what happens during a therapy session. Therapists usually have their own way of working which is based on a combination of training and experience. Below is an outline of the way that I work.

Initial consultation
In this session we will discuss what you want help with and why. Think of it as laying the foundations for future work. You can of course, ask any questions that you may have as well. It is important that you feel at ease because hypnotherapy is about working together to achieve the outcome that you want. No two people or issues are the same, so we need to find out what you want to achieve to ensure that the therapy is focused on your goals. During this session, you will also be introduced to hypnosis in order to help you prepare for future therapy and focus on success.

Further sessions
Hypnotherapy forms the main part of these sessions along with a review of your progress since we last met. Your feedback and experiences are important because hypnotherapy is a two-way process where your motivation and commitment are the key to success. I may also ask you to undertake some short exercises in between appointments to enhance the learning from the session and prepare for the next one.

The focus is always on getting you to where you want to be in as few sessions as possible. Hypnotherapy is very solution orientated and each session lasts about an hour in order to maintain optimum concentration levels and get the best from the process.
